To celebrate the end of summer, every year, and raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, GRand Rapids' GWRRA Chapter G hosts the "Midnight Ride." The ride leaves Grand Rapids on Friday at midnight, and rides through the night, with planned stops along the way, until it crosses the Mackinaw Bridge connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan.
This event is open to any and all motorcycles, and a large number of MI Gold Wing Road Riders participate every year. The A2 Chapter had a number of riders in this year's event.
On Friday the 20th of August, three different groups left to participate in parts of the ride to St. Ignace. Different groups were Bruce, Melissa, Ron, Deb, Jerry, Kathy, Jerry, and Alice in one group; Don, Janet, Wally, and Sue in another group; and Todd, Kelly, Tim, Kim, Corky, Robin, Russ and "George"ina comprising the third group.

A2 riders bundled up for the last leg from Gaylord to St. Ignace.

Friday before the ride to St. Ignace, there was time for a ride to the northwest part of the state. This is a car ferry dock to cross Lake Charlevoix.

Jerry & Alice, and Melissa on bikes during the crossing. There were also three 4-wheelers on the ferry!

This raft takes passengers out over the "Big Spring" in Palms Book State Park near Manistique, U.P.

Capt. Jerry powers the raft during our visit. The water is crystal clear, and the fish below are HUGE! A hole in the middle of the raft provides a great view of the fish below!
