Linda’s hip surgery required the installation of a plate, bolts, and a rod installed.  Her doctor indicated because if her age, she’ll be facing a hip replacement someday in her future.  They tend to wait as long as possible with replacements because they tend to last only ten—fifteen years and can only be done twice.   Linda’s long wait for the surgical procedure was to rid her system of the medications she normally has to take.  It takes ten days to clear her system.  Her system needs to be clear because of the past problems she encountered coming out of anesthesia.  She doesn't recover well from anesthesia and wound up on life support each time.   Because of this medical history, the doctors  did not put her under during the surgery, but instead, used a saddle block so she was awake during the procedure.  Ouch. . .
