Cascade Wings

Chapter J, always helping out at every event and only having missed a few meetings, but he is also a good friend to each and every one of us.
Whenever we need something done, whether it has to do with the chapter or just need some help with our bike, he is there offering advice and assistance.  He is a wealth of information, having been with the chapter since 1989. He was instrumental to the 25th Anniversary committee, helping them identify old pictures for the PowerPoint Presentation that Linda put together, and reminding them of past members who should be on the invitation list.
He and Mary have done the Newsletter for as long as we can remember, and have assisted us numerous times in the Phone Tree and updating our membership list.  Louie was also the other half of the 1992 Couple of the Year.

Thanks, Louie, you're a
STAR!!!

Even though we chose Louie as our 2007 Individual of the Year, as Andy and I tried to decide who to select for July's Outstanding Member of the Month, we couldn't help but stop and think of how many raffle tickets Louie is responsible for every year.  Therefore, we thought it only fitting to choose him for the Outstanding Member of the Month as well.
Few people realize how much running around Louie does, just to sell those few extra tickets.  A few weeks ago, Andy was going to sell tickets one more time at her work place, and asked me to call Louie to see if he couldn't bring her a few extra, just in case she sold more than anticipated.  When I contacted him, he was in Stockbridge selling tickets with Deb & Don LeJeune, BUT as always, he found a way to deliver those extra few tickets to Andy at her job.  He has also met Andy during her lunch-hour to pick up sold tickets and the money.  He has gone this "extra mile" for several other chapter members -
meeting them when and where it is convenient for them, not Louie, to drop off more tickets, pick up sold tickets, and/or pick up the money.
Then he returns home to check each ticket to make sure the information is complete, legible, and the tickets are in numerical order before turning them into the State.  He also counts the cash/checks to make sure that matches the number of tickets sold and completes the bank transactions.  The District Treasurer (Dale) has complimented us several times on the fine, outstanding job that Louie does.  As our chapter is almost always the top ticket seller, this is no small undertaking.  We (Chapter J) could not do it without Louie's continued efforts.
Also, as most of you know, Louie won a new black jacket as the top membership recruiter in the District again this year.  He doesn't take "no" for an answer, and can be very persuasive.  As soon as a new "wanna-be" steps through the doors of Chapter J, Louie is right there convincing them of all the reasons why they should join Chapter J.  He always has a new membership package in his hand, and is willing to use his own credit card to sign them up and get them on the road to becoming the newest Chapter J member.  I guess this is where the term "Louie-ized" came from, and I think most of us have been there.
Not only is Louie one of the most energetic members of

Dinner Ride

Carol Sherman has put together a really neat dinner ride which will be combined with a retirement seminar.

When:  Saturday, July 26th
Time:  Meet at HPS @ 3:00, arrive @ 4:30
Where:  Ride to Artesian Wells (next to Town & Country) for a "FREE" dinner
Why:   Listen to 1/2 hour Retirement Presentation, no obligation

There are no strings attached to this dinner/presentation.  Carol thought this would be a good opportunity for our members to get some information on retirement planning.
We want to stress, this is not a GWRRA-sponsored event, but something we thought many people might find beneficial.  Carol needs to have a count of how many people plan to go to this, so please call her @ (517) 536-0102 if you plan to attend and/or have any questions.   Andy and I are planning to go to this, so we hope to see many of you there.
