win Christmas Parade theme this year is Gladwin Salutes the Troops which is Saturday Dec. 6.  Sandy suggested going to Frankenmuth again this year and the date will be set up at the staff meeting.  We changed the staff meeting to the 9th due to opening of hunting season.  It will be held at Buccilli’s in Clare at 2pm.  Glenn talked about setting up a CPR/First Aid class that some of us need for our Levels and talked about the Levels program.  Glenn also said that a good tool for a quick safety inspection was from the bike judging sheet.  Jody had a subject to bring up about people starting rumors and we need to stop them.  She offered to be in charge of the bike tickets this year.  All this extra help is really appreciated by Clark & I.  Chapter Y talked about their Christmas party which will be held at the Summerfield Township Hall in Leota.  Instead of a gift to exchange this year, they are doing a Toys for Tots.  (price is $10 -$15 per person).  They need to be unwrapped and the age is up to 16 years old.  A member of the Marine Corp is going to be at the party to accept the toys.  There will be no gathering that morning at Coyle’s.  The dinner starts at 2pm and bring a dish to pass.  (Meat will be provided by the chapter).  Jody found her membership number in the newsletter and let us know early.

Nov. 9—Chapter Y’s gathering, Gary and Clark & I attended.  Bob said it would be a short gathering and it ended up a little longer than planned.  They had good discussions on several topics.  Rider Ed was funny and I wished I could remember who wrote the article that Neil read.  The tables were set up different but we filled them all.  Sandy Murray was able to attend.  We are glad she is staying on with the chapter.  With the help of someone taller than me, we stole the Fonz.

Nov. 9—Staff meeting at Buccilli’s in Clare at 2 pm -  We had a good turnout for the staff meeting.  Denny & Jody came with their granddaughter, Ellie and she was very good.  Sandy D talked about the cookie exchange, Gladwin Christmas parade, and the Frankenmuth trip.  Jody discussed the Chapter Couple of the Year selection to be held at our Christmas party in January.  Sandy D also said she would see if Rumor’s would let us have our party there, so she is going to work on that.  Jody & Denny will be taking care of bike ticket sales this year so get with them when you need more.  Jody passed out tickets to all present.  For the person or couple who sells the most tickets,  they are having a special gift.  We discussed buying a Wii game for the senior citizens but opted to help the food

pantry instead.  (more of a need this year than most years)  Clark is checking with Council on Aging and Deb is checking with the Catholic church mission.  Will know more details at our next gathering.  We checked with Buccilli’s to see if we could reserve the room for our gathering beginning in January and there is no problem going back.  If need be, we can overflow into the other part of the building.  Less noise if we get that room than at Big Boy.  We can’t reserve the back room at Big Boy for just us, so anyone can be in that room during our gathering.  This is the reason for the change again.  Try it, don’t work, change.   Like the old saying if it is a good idea, steal it and try it.  Some things work for one group and may or may not work for another.   Got any ideas to try???

Nov. 14—Saurkraut Dinner at the Our Savior Lutheran Church—Clark & I waited for members to show up and missed the ones that did until they were getting their table.  Dick & Sandy were with neighbors and family and made up a whole table so Clark & I along with Madeline ate with other people.  My son, Owen, was going to sit with us also but he sat with another couple he knew.  Wearing our vests was good PR at the table we sat at.  The people we sat with had no idea who we were representing, so we had a chance to talk about GWRRA with them.   The dinner was good as usual and Bob & Kim worked hard.  Bob & Kim are members of the church so they were helping serve the food.   Our ticket numbers was 672 & 673 and there were a lot of people come in after us.  The whole meal, consisting of saurkraut & sausage, mashed potatoes, baked beans, applesauce, bread, and pies are all homemade.  It is a family style setting and doesn’t take long to run a few hundred people through.  It ran from 4 pm-7pm. They also do take outs. It is an annual event now for years.

Nov. 16—Dinner at BT was enjoyed by Dick & Sandy, Gary and Clark & Sandy.  We discussed the saurkraut dinner and food pantries that we would like to use for our Christmas Charity this year.  Gary still can’t believe how large of servings that the BT serves but he ate all of his burrito himself.  While inside eating, it really started to snow hard, hard enough we had to clean our cars off before heading home.  Hope the snow helps the hunters.  It was a good meal as usual with very large portions.
