It is very cold outside as I get this together. It has snowed, rained and sleeted enough for the year. I am ready for SPRING riding. But first we must close out this year. Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas was just around the corner. Many members of the Chapter had a very good year of riding while others were tied down with the problems of living and wished that they could have done more. The end of the year is a time to be thankful of everything we have; our health, our family and friends, triumphs and our defeats and our wishes for the New Year. Plans and resolutions for the New Year should not overshadow the past. Many good times have come and gone and so have some of our members. We have welcomed new members and mourned those that have left us from our family. We have helped each other through sickness and grief. We all mean a lot to each other. Our wish for all of you is to have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And now, back to our business at hand. The Fall Officer’s Meeting gave us some great news about the Rider Education Program! There will be many more classes due to a new crop of instructors that have passed the testing. We have our date for the annual Picnic In The Park during the summer, more to follow. The tradition of swapping meetings for the months of January and February will continue with Chapter “O”. We have our tickets for the 2008 Gold Wing raffle. The date for the STATE RALLY has been changed so it should not coincide with Muskegon BIKE TIME and the Fall Officer’s meeting will no longer fall on opening weekend of deer season. We are planning our after Christmas party. We still need help with filling out our staff positions. Many of you were always there when you could be and for that, we THANK YOU. Your Chapter is what we make it. We are financially stable and we are working on getting the word out quicker through e-mail instead of the newsletter. If you are not getting e-mail from Jim and Sandy Ring or from Terri and I let us know. We know we still have a few we need to remember to call and will get the e-mal list updated as fast as we can. FOR THE JANUARY 12 MEETING, WE WILL BE HOSTING CHAPTER “O”. Please let Terri and I know if you may be attending so that we can make sure we have enough room for Chapter “O”. For the upcoming FEBRUARY 9, 2008 MEETING WE WILL BE TRAVELING TO CHAPTER “O”. Chapter “O” is having an EXPERIENCED RIDER Seminar after breakfast and has invited us to attend. Breakfast will be at 9:00 AM at the Yellow Jacket on M-45 and the seminar will start at 11:00 AM. They would also appreciate an approximate head count so please let Terri and I know in advance. Sandy Follett would appreciate any contributions to the BRAG BOOK. We are in need of pictures of any of our Chapter activities. Thanks for doing that as well as the newsletter, Sandy! At some point our wonderful ladies will assemble the final product over a fun get together for State Rally competition. WINGLESS WEEKEND is coming up in February. This is a great time to get together with members of the other Chapters for a whale of a good time! If you missed last years Male Beauty Pageant, you truly missed a good time. This year the boxer short competition could be hilarious. It’s a good time of year to get out and laugh until your sides ache! While pondering on why we need more help on the Chapter staff, I came across this old saying that has inspired me. I have enjoyed being Chapter Director. Most of the time it is very fulfilling and other times, frankly, it can be a little frustrating. In the end, I have gotten more from being a Chapter Director than you can imagine. Terri and I have made many long-time friends at State Officer meetings. The saying “Where goes the Chapter Director, so goes the Chapter” took us on many road trips to other Chapters and their functions. Chapter “N” used to be known as the Chapter that traveled, both as a group and individually. But time has changed us all as has the circumstances around us. It’s no secret that we all got “older”. Look at the number of trikes in our Chapter. The economics of this state and the fact that “retirement” changes ones priorities will always be changing our Chapter. So with this, I would like some help in changing the focus of our group and our activities. It is not hard work and only requires a few hours a month. Please don’t think that inexperience is a handicap, it could be your new idea that will make a difference. We are all in this for FUN so let’s have some FUN doing it together. It should not be intimidating to anyone and no one should be judging you if they are not actively involved themselves. So please read this and think about where you want to go with YOUR CHAPTER. The author is unknown to me. Ponder what it means |
