Text Box: November Notes from the old CD
Well, Dennis and Joann are off having fun in Vegas, so I will fill in their chapter notes for them. At our last gathering, we had a visitor from the Salvation Army. He was asking for our assistance in doing a food drive for the Salvation Army. He explained that the Traverse City HOG group had done a very successful food drive last year with the help of a local grocery store and local radio station. Unfortunately, our group felt that it was too late in the season to setup a food drive as he described. Many of us would be putting our bike away or going south for the winter and it is just to cold. Instead, we decided to choose 4 charities to donate to for the holidays. The Salvation Army would be one of the charities receiving a donation.
It was also announced at the gathering that during the winter months, we would be suspending the monthly gatherings, weekly dinner rides and newsletter. Since the winter is not riding weather, we are a small chapter and many of us go south for the winter, for the ones staying in Michigan, there is no reason to meet on a regular schedule. Those staying in Michigan will keep in touch on a personal basis for get togethers (see Jo’s note on a New Years Eve party).
Clark & Sandy Wentz from chapter J2 were also in attendance. They showed us a little stick-on information packet that they had come across that would be useful in the case of mishap. The packet would contain your important medical and contact information. The packet would be stuck on the outside of your helmet in plan view. Most emergency responders will not go through your bike to look for your medical information, but if it is on the outside of your helmet they can’t miss it.
Mary and I will be gone before the next gathering. So have a safe and happy winter.

Text Box: At the October gathering the group picked Mike Whitney and Mary Frye as the 2009 Chapter C.O.Y.
Mary and I would like to thank the group for the honor bestowed on us. All of our chapter regular participants deserve this honor, but I guess only one couple can be chosen. Mary and I have always tried to promote our chapter and GWRRA as a place for good friendship. We intend to continue in our chapter participation to its fullest. Our GWRRA membership in Chapter P2 is a major part of our daily life. GWRRA members have been there for us and we will always be there for them.
