Chapter P-2's Trip to Americade

We were all excited and rearing to go Saturday morning. Some of our group went out to breakfast that morning.  I was told Walt and Grace Sparks was there to have breakfast with everyone and wish us all a great time since they had decided not to go. I know I will miss them both.  What will we do about the campfire without Walt, and Grace's encouraging smile?
We met at Air Gas in Cadillac, Earl and Jo Moss, Denise and Joann our C.D's, Ed Loftus and Don,
Jack and Diana Senyk, John and Barb Farkus.  Earl Moss, Dennis, and John were pulling motorcycle camping trailers.  Ed and Don plan on renting a cabin.  Mike and I are driving the truck/camper pulling our bikes on an open trailer that Mike built.  So we will be traveling slower than the group.  Mike and Louise Packer plan to join us at the Whippoorwill campground in Lake George in a few days.  As I look over the group from the parking lot of Air Gas, as we are ready to leave.  I Pray "God be with us on this trip and help us to help ourselves."
We got off to a slow start and went the scenic route, we wanted to see some of Cadillac that some of us had not seen before. Ha ha. We were having fun together.  Mike has a C.B in the truck and we could keep tabs on what was happening with the group.  It don't seem cold riding in the truck, but I know how cold it must feel riding on the bikes in 60 degree and the dampness goes to the bones and chills you all the way through.  I hope the sun comes out soon and warms them.
Near Port Huron, we stopped for fuel and headed to the Cracker Barrel.  The group should be there.  Yes, they are just going in to get some hot food and warm up.  Mike and I have left over pizza and pop for lunch setting in the parking lot.  I decide to go find a tee shirt to buy and use the restroom while there.  The group was taking a break and we decided to go on and get across into Canada.  That is when we discovered that Mike's birth certificate didn't get packed.  We told the lady what happened and she let us go on with a stern warning about keeping it with you when traveling foreign countries.  Then the rain really began coming down in buckets.  We also had hail some large size and smaller pea size.  I tried calling the C.D's, but as I learned later they turned their phone off because it cost so much more for roaming in a foreign country.  The rain continued.  It was so bad at times we couldn't see the road.  Mike put his hazard flashers on and kept trying to flow with the traffic.  Mike said he had never traveled in a storm like this one where it didn't let up. The big rigs had their hazard flashers on and were passing us.  I told Mike that Canada looks just like Michigan but the rain is heavier.  Ha ha.  I hope the group stays where they are until the storm passes.  I am so glad we are in the truck. There is no way I would want to be on a bike out in this storm.  It has let up some.  We still have very dark skies all around us.  This is no fun.  I feel safe with Mike driving, he is an expert driver.  We went through another down pour of rain, It seems to be finally stopping.  We are getting closer to Niagara.  We came upon a rollover accident.  Everyone seems ok.  Then another two cars ran off the right side of the expressway.  They also seemed ok.
Seems as if we are heading into another storm, it looks very dark in the direction we are going.  Time and miles will tell. This type of travel is very tiring even when I am not doing the driving.  I can still see lighting in the distance.  We are in Lincoln, Canada, I saw a roadside sign it said if your convicted of speeding the penalty is $10,000 fine , suspend your driving privileges and seize your vehicle. Strange but it seems as if everyone is passing us. Mike said he is going the speed limit.  Niagara Falls 26 k. to go.  We hope the group is ok and dry.
Mike and I made it to the motel Saturday 4:20 P.M.  Mike had to unhook the trailer to get it in a parking space near our motel room.  Not knowing the neighborhood, it is better to be safe.  Mike is laying on one of the beds watching TV.  He really deserves the break after driving through that storm today.  I should have brought my popcorn, the room has a microwave.  It is a clean room, but I had to go ask for towels because the room only had one.  I noticed they advertised renting rooms by the hour.  Then I noticed a young girl dressed very seductively going into one of the rooms upstairs. Mike and I spotted another gold wing arriving at the motel.  Mike went out to talk to the rider.  His name is Don and he knows Ed and Don and they planned to meet him here and he is riding along with our group. Don is from Ohio and is from chapter P-2 in Ohio. The rest of our group arrived an hour after we got here. They are a happy lot. They busy themselves getting their wings tucked in and safe for the night. We are planning on walking to dinner someplace close. So far it has been another wild adventure with our chapter P-2.
