Gene was born in Durand on October 5th, 1933, the son of the late John and Edith (Kent) Pratt,  Gene attended Durand Public Schools.  He married Rose E. Clark on November 7, 1952.  He was employed with Buick Motors in Fling to 32 years, retiring in 1985.  He worked in transportation and as a crane operator, he was also a member of UAW Local 599.  Gene had many interest including photography (he was the unofficial photographer for the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce and Tip-Up-Town for many years, traveling,  riding motorcycles, and the Detroit Tigers.  Gene was a lifetime member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association.

           Gene is survived by his wife Rose; son Jim Pratt and (Jody) of California; daughters, Linda (John) Yoder of Corunna and Shirley (Bill) Berdan of Owosso, grandchildren Chris Pratt, Lori Pratt, Kim (Tomasek) and Farid Irish, Joseph E. Tomasek; and great-grandson Johnathan Irish.  He was predeceased by his parents, an infant sister; and grandchildren Trisha Tomasek and John A. Tomasek.

In Memory of  Eugene Loren Pratt

 

           Eugene Loren (Gene) Pratt 76 of Houghton Lake/Prudenville, formerly of Durand, passed away Friday July 2, 2010 at his daughter’s residence in Owosso.

           A graveside service was held  on Friday, July 9th at the Greenwood Cemetery , Vernon with Pastor John Walworth officiating.  There was no visitation prior to the gravesite service as cremation had already been taken place.
