FROM THE DIRECTOR’S CHAIR |

Hi Guys, My how time flies when you’re having fun! Seems like riding season just arrived. Now it’s over. So we’ll start the planning for next season. If you have anywhere you would like to go next season please let us know. Of course, there will be the usual Ice Cream Rides and monthly Chapter Rides, WING DING, STATE and REGION rallies. But we all have somewhere we would really like to ride too so throw it out there and let’s do it together. That’s what make’s it fun to be a member—the ride’s we remember. It can be something as crazy as lunch 600+ miles away or something just around the next bend in the road. It really doesn’t matter. It’s the open road; the chance to get away from it all at least for awhile. We will discuss our Fun Run Date at November’s Gathering. It will be June 25th or 26th 2011 to once again coincide with the Balloon Fest. We are still looking for new ideas like games, different routes etc. so put on your thinking hats and let’s try something. We believe we need something to put some kick back into our FUN RUN. So as the days of riding this season are coming to an end and we ready our trusted rides for their long winters nap, remember the Great Rides we had and all the fun yet to come. Pam and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your help throughout the last year. As always we welcome your questions or comments anytime. Also please remember we truly are... Proud to be your CD’s Rob & Pam Robinson |

When you leave your house for a hopefully fun, safe, and enjoyable ride you seldom think that you will run into trouble somewhere along the way. Well, that is exactly what happened to us on our trip to the Yoder’s Popcorn Shop. We left at 9:00 am and started out with seven other bikes. It was a perfect day for a ride. It was sunny and warm. We knew these kind of days were far and few to come. Around noon, Julian thought the wind was making the bike do strange maneuvers. We all pulled over into a parking lot of the Village of Burlington’s fire station to check the bike since things were changing fast and we could not figure out what was happening… a rear flat tire. It was our first and, thank goodness, we had the experience of our fellow friends and riders. They rushed into action and tried to patch the tire, too many holes for that. As we were working on the tire, the mayor pulled up and wanted to know if we needed help. We thanked him and he left, only to return and insisted that he open the facility so that we may get drinks and use the restrooms. He also allowed the men to use the tools in the facility to change the tire. After a trip to Coldwater and the new tire placed on the bike, we were ready to leave at 2:30. Julian and I would like to express how much we appreciated all the experience and help from our fellow riders. And on behalf of the entire group that day we want to say THANK you to The Village of Burlington for the concern and kindness shown to our group in need. The Village of Burlington is lucky to have a Mayor with this dedication to the public, a Good Samaritan to all that travel through your town that may be in need. Julian and Mary Jo Meade |
