MAY NOTES

We are into the ride season finally and it is great to be back on the road on two wheels.  The weather turned out just right for our first Ice Cream Ride of the season.  There were 18 bikes present so we split into 3 groups for the ride.  The camera man was there to take photos and our article was in the Oakland Press on Sunday.  Lloyd did a fine job at getting it arranged.  Thanks Lloyd.

We had a great time at Q-2’s Party Saturday night the 18th.  Those in attendance were, Craig and Judy Cruickshank, Lloyd & Virginia Betts, Wally & Ginny Kozlowski and Ginny & I.  Ginny and I rode the Wing to Q-2’s party along with Dennis and Gayle and it was a super ride, especially since it did not rain.

Sunday April 19th was a good weather day, as it turned out, for the breakfast and bike maintenance work.  The guys did their usual great job.  Thanks, to Dennis and Gayle for holding this annual event at your home.

I want to congratulate the Chapter E Team for the outstanding job they did for the Anniversary Party.  The team included Dan & Linda Work, Craig & Judy Cruickshank, Cindy Davis & Roger

Wallace and Dennis & Gayle Jisa.    Two of Dennis and Gayle’s daughters worked the kitchen for us and did an outstanding job, especially when there were no lights; talk about working in the dark.  Thanks! Jenny and Julie your efforts were greatly appreciated. Even with no electricity the event went off as a great success.  We received many compliments from those that attended.  We had plenty of food for everyone and all seemed to have a lot of fun.  The band did a great job for us.

Ginny and I take great pleasure in announcing The New Chapter “E” Couple of the Year 2009–Cindy Davis & Roger Magerman.  They were selected by the participants of the chapter and named at our anniversary party Saturday night. Congratulations Cindy and Roger.

Our next challenge is to hold our annual Fun Run on June the 14th.  We will be at Motor City Power Sport again this year so come on out and have a good time as well as support your chapter.  The sign up sheet will be passed around at the next gathering, we have many jobs to do that day.

At the staff meeting on the 4th the staff decided, due to many request, to move our Ice Cream rides back to Wednesdays.  Sooo… we will have our gatherings on the third Wednesday of the month and the other Wednesdays will be the Ice Cream rides.  The staff meetings will remain the first Monday of each month.  In addition to this we will have desserts at the gatherings all year, no more pot luck dinners.  If you want to bring your dinner to the gathering it is OK but you are responsible for your own clean up afterwards.  The chapter will have plates and plastic wear there for the desserts and will provide coffee, but please bring serving utensils.  If you want anything other then coffee you must provide it yourself.  This new schedule will start June 2009.  May remains as scheduled in your April news letter.  If you have any questions or need clarification call Ginny or I.  The next and last planned change for the chapter is to change our name, it was discussed at the staff meeting and it was agreed to present the name change at the May gathering in order to give everyone an opportunity to express their opinion.  North Oakland Wings was one that came up and seems most appropriate since we have membership from all over this area.  This also gives us a greater opportunity to draw new membership from those looking for a chapter to join.

We have two new member in our GWRRA family, Vince & Pat Pipitone, help make them welcome.

PS:  Does anyone have a large Rubbermaid container that belongs to the chapter?  We are missing one from the night of the anniversary party, also a large package of small paper plates…..
