The Importance of Proper Riding Gear The riding season is under way, and I just want to remind
everyone of the importance of proper riding gear. No matter how experienced a
rider we are, whether a novice or seasoned, an accident or tumble off the
motorcycle can happen at any time.
Over the past several years I have had different members of Chapter E
tell me a fall off the bike happens to everyone at some time. Recently I took a tumble off the bike. Fortunately, the bike was not hurt, nor was
I. I learned two valuable lessons from this experience. The first was a very basic concept that we
all learn at the beginning of our rider training "look were you want to
go". Unfortunately I did not follow that important piece of training and
looked exactly where I did not want to go.
As a result, the bike went down. The good part was I had on all the proper riding gear. My foot
was pinned under the foot peg and my riding boot protected my toes. Without
the proper foot gear, I very easily could have sustained a serious
injury. My helmet was also on and
fastened properly. I encourage everyone to please wear appropriate gear at all
time. We want to see everyone safe and
uninjured. Enjoy the riding season.
