Well, the riding season is soon coming to an end, so the members are trying to get all the rides in we can before the weather turns bad. Our Thursday dinner rides have taken us to some new places. Dennis set up a mystery ride for a Thursday ride, but once he told us the menu, we all new where we were going. We just didn’t know the route to get there. With Dennis delivering propane in the county, he has learned many of the different roads and little towns. He took us though some little local towns on the mystery ride that we had never heard of before.
Then, Jo Moss came up with the idea of a progressive dinner ride. We would ride to various member’s houses for salad, soup and the main course. We were all concerned that the weather wouldn’t cooperate. Our alternate plan was to carpool between our houses, but that wouldn’t be as much fun. Luckily, it had been a great day of riding and eating and visiting.
After the progressive dinner ride, a ride to Mackinaw was planned while at Owen’s. They planned to visit John and Barb Farkas at work at their daughter’s restaurant in Mackinaw. After picking up Mary and myself in Lake City and Owen and Gail in Mancelona, Dennis lead us through Indian River then Cheboygan avoiding any busy roads. John and Barb were able to join us for lunch at the restaurant. After lunch they took us on a tour of the motel and over to their daughter’s house right on the great lakes. After a long ride home, another great day of riding was over. The weather looked lousy for the next couple of days, so we were glad to get the rides in that we did.
We will have a few more days for riding, so hopefully they are as good as these rides.
